WHAT IS AN EXTRANET?
In layman's terms, an extranet is a website with password protection.
An Extranet differs from an Intranet as it is accessible via the world
wide web itself, and not behind a corporate firewall restricting access.
It will invariably have an element of 'intelligence' built into it,
for example, only offering links to areas defined in a users particular
permissions. They are normally used by companies who want to create
a communication link with suppliers and clients, while not allowing
suppliers and clients access to their closed Intranet.
